WHEN  GHOSTS  TALK
Inland Empire
Area

This cemetery is located on 14th Street in Riverside.  The first time we went to it, it was
in bad disrepair with a single ominous light post in the middle of one section giving off a
weird yellow tint to the area.  Now there is lighting and fencing around it and it's been
cleaned up.  On the western end is a section where some civil war soldiers are buried.
Veronica has recording a couple of EVPs here including one that seems to be rattling
off some numbers. Possibly a soldier saying his regiment's numerals or something.  Next
to this section is a small patch area of infants where I heard audibly the sound of a baby
"coo".  I was able to catch it on my hand-held digital recorder as well. I will post it as soon
as I can.  As of right now, I am not sure if the cemetery is fenced off with open entry or
not.

This cemetery lies on a hill slope above Central Ave. near the 9
1 freeway.  During the
day time,
Olivewood looks very peaceful.  But when it gets dark, kinda spooky.  I've been
there twice with each time providing a far different feeling.  The first night, I swear I was
seeing shadows behind us as we walked all the way to the top.  Once there I heard steps
behind us constantly. Almost at that same time, my digital camera decided it wanted to
take pictures on its own.  Every few seconds or so it would take a picture and the flash
would go off as I was looking at it to see if I could figure out what was going on.  We
ended up with 5 pictures of the night sky. But the weird part was that every one of those
pictures looked like a white and gold lightning display .  I caught the event on my digital
recorder but nothing showed up except us talking about the camera going by itself.
After transferring the pictures to my laptop, I could see all the weird shapes the
"lightning" was forming. They actually had a glow to them.  But like someof my recordings
and photos I have had, I lost these photos when my last laptop crashed.  I lost a lot that
day. A lesson learned though to transfer everything onto a blank CD for safe keeping.

This old western historic park used to be a mining town located off the
15 freeway north
of Barstow and south of Baker.  Like many of the western mining towns,
Calico was a
rowdy town that had  saloons, schools and its share of rowdiness.  Aside from the cool
side attractions and sasparilla sodas you can buy, it has a creepy vibe once it gets dark.
Partly because you are a little isolated from the rest of the world and partly because
there are are stories of ghostly sightings near the mine and schoolhouse.  They proudly
show off a picture taken by a tourist that shows a mist form in the main mine shaft that
resembles someone with a pick-axe in action.  Not sure of its authenticity but it's a good
picture anyway.  I was told by a docent there that there have been sightings of people
around the schoolhouse including a man on top the roof working and someone who might
be a teacher.  I got nothing in my photos but we weren't there long either.  You can
actually camp there in some small cabins located a few yards away from the park
entrance.  That might be an interesting night.  On a side note, the train ride there is
cool.
